Day 5: Pressing Forward Into the New Creation

Reading: Philippians 3:12-14; 2 Corinthians 5:17

Devotional: Paul knew what it was to carry a painful past. He had been complicit in the suffering and death of believers. He could not undo any of it. But he made a deliberate, disciplined choice: he pressed forward. He fixed his eyes on what God had called him toward rather than on what he was leaving behind. And 2 Corinthians 5:17 makes the foundation of that forward movement clear. In Christ, you are not a slightly improved version of who you used to be. You are a new creation entirely. Your past can teach you without owning you. Your failures can inform you without defining you. The old is gone. The new has come.

Personal Reflection: In what areas of your life are you still living as the old version of yourself rather than walking in the new creation God has made you to be?

Practical Application: Write a brief statement that begins with "In Christ, I am..." and finish it with the truth of who God says you are, not what your past or your failures have told you. Read it every morning this week before you begin your day.
