Day 5: The Joy on the Other Side
Reading: Psalm 30:1-5; James 1:12
Devotional: The joy James promises isn't found in the trial itself but in the testimony that follows. When you've wrestled through doubt, clung to faith when everything seemed hopeless, and then witnessed God's faithfulness on the other side—that's when joy floods your soul. It's the joy of seeing God open doors you couldn't unlock, provide resources you couldn't imagine, and bring redemption from situations that seemed beyond repair. This joy is different from happiness; it's deeper, rooted in the unshakeable knowledge that God is real, present, and faithful. Every tested faith that endures produces a story of God's goodness. Your current struggle is writing a testimony that will one day encourage others and deepen your own confidence in God's character. Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning—not because the trial disappears, but
because you've discovered God's presence within it.
Reflection Question: Looking back, how has God proven faithful in past trials, and how does that give you hope for today?
