Day 4: Building Endurance Through Resistance

Reading: Hebrews 12:1-3; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Devotional: No athlete becomes strong by avoiding the gym. No runner builds endurance without pushing through exhaustion. Similarly, no believer develops mature faith without facing resistance. We often pray for God to remove obstacles, but sometimes He allows them to remain because they're building something essential in us. The trials that frustrate us today are developing the spiritual muscle we'll need tomorrow. This doesn't mean God enjoys watching us struggle; rather, He loves us too much to leave us spiritually weak. When we keep trusting Him despite unanswered questions, when we choose obedience over comfort, when we worship through tears—that's when our faith transforms from abstract belief into concrete reality. The resistance you're facing isn't evidence of God's absence; it's often the tool of His refining presence, sculpting you into the person He created you to be.

Reflection Question: Where are you experiencing resistance, and how might God be using it to strengthen you?
