Day 2: Your Struggle Is Not Your Identity
Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
Devotional: Paul writes that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person — the old life is gone and the new life has begun (2 Corinthians 5:17). Culture has a way of labeling us by our lowest moments and our deepest struggles. Anxiety, depression, failure, and sin can begin to feel less like things we experience and more like things we are. But Scripture draws a clear line between what you go through and who you are. You may experience anxiety, but anxiety is not your name. You may walk through depression, but depression does not get the final word. Your identity is settled in Christ.
Reflection Questions:
What label has culture, or even your own inner voice, placed on you that does not align with who God says you are?
How does understanding your identity in Christ change the way you approach your struggles?
What would it look like to separate your struggle from your identity this week?
Practical Application: Write down one lie you have believed about yourself. Beneath it, write a truth from Scripture that directly contradicts it. Return to that truth every time the lie resurfaces throughout the day.
