Day 1: Thirsting for the Right Thing

Reading: Psalm 42:1-2

Devotional: The psalmist describes a deep, consuming longing for God — the kind of thirst that cannot be satisfied by anything the world offers. We live in a culture overflowing with options, distractions, and competing voices, all promising to quench what only God can satisfy. The sermon asked a piercing question: what is your heart actually thirsting for? Fame, comfort, approval, and pleasure all present themselves as worthy pursuits. But they leave us dry. True satisfaction begins when we redirect our longing toward the living God. Today, honestly examine what you are chasing most. Then turn that desire toward Him.

Reflection: What have you been seeking to satisfy a thirst that only God can quench? What would it look like today to pursue Him above everything else?

Practical Application: Set aside ten minutes today in silence. Write down three things you have been chasing for fulfillment. Surrender each one to God in prayer, and ask Him to reorder your desires.
