Day 4: Chosen, Royal, and Secure

Reading: 1 Peter 2:9-10; Romans 8:15-17

Devotional: Peter writes to people who had been scattered, marginalized, and overlooked, and he calls them chosen, royal, holy, and God's very own possession. That was not a description of how the world saw them. It was a declaration of how God sees you. Paul adds to this by reminding believers that they have not received a spirit of fear or slavery, but a spirit of adoption. You are not a servant trying to earn a place at the table. You are a son or daughter seated at the table of the Most High God. That identity is not fragile. It does not shift with your feelings or your circumstances. It is anchored in Him.

Reflection: Do you live as someone who has been adopted into God's family, or do you still approach Him as though you must earn your place? What would change if you fully embraced your identity as His child?

Practical Application: The next time someone or something tempts you to find your value in performance or approval, pause and speak aloud: "I am chosen, I am loved, and I am God's."
