Day 2: Misplaced Expectations

Reading: John 12:12-19; Philippians 2:5-11

Devotional: The same voices shouting "Hosanna" on Sunday cried "Crucify Him" by Thursday. What changed? Jesus didn't meet their expectations. They wanted a political revolutionary; He came as a suffering Savior. Their conditional worship evaporated when He didn't serve their agenda.

This challenges us profoundly. Do we follow Jesus for who He is or for what we hope to gain? It's easy to turn Jesus into a cosmic vending machine—insert prayer, receive blessing. But genuine faith surrenders control rather than seeking it. Jesus is Lord, not a life coach we hire and fire based on results.

Today, identify any expectations you've placed on God. Are you willing to worship Him even if He doesn't answer prayers the way you want? Surrender isn't giving up; it's trusting that God's canvas is far bigger than we can imagine.
