Road to the Resurrection Week 4
This powerful message takes us deep into one of the darkest moments on the road to resurrection—the night Jesus was betrayed. We journey through the Last Supper, where Jesus shares the Passover meal with His disciples, knowing full well that one of His own is about to hand Him over for thirty pieces of silver. The sermon challenges us to examine our own hearts: How often do we trade eternal purpose for temporary pleasure? Judas spent three years walking with Jesus, yet chose silver over the Savior. Before we judge him too harshly, we must ask ourselves—do we do the same when we sideline God's calling for financial security, when we surrender every area of our lives except the ones we want to control, or when we say yes to God with conditions attached? The most striking image is Jesus washing the feet of His betrayer, demonstrating servant leadership at its purest. He chose the towel over the title, humility over power. Then in Gethsemane, we witness true surrender—Jesus praying three times for the cup to pass, yet ultimately declaring, 'Not my will, but Yours be done.' This is where faith becomes real: when obedience becomes painful, when we trust God even without understanding, when we praise Him not just when prayers are answered but when the answer isn't what we asked for. We all have our Gethsemane moments—those seasons of unanswered prayers and silent heavens. The question is: Will we surrender?
