Day 4: Freedom Through Surrender
Reading: Ephesians 4:29-32
Devotional: "Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." Forgiveness isn't pretending it didn't hurt. It's not excusing sin or removing wisdom. Forgiveness is surrendering your right to revenge and releasing the burden to God. It's saying, "This was wrong, it hurt deeply, but I choose not to hold it against them anymore." This doesn't mean instant trust or restored relationship—those require time and wisdom. But forgiveness sets you free from the prison of replaying the hurt, from staying up nights plotting revenge, from the cynicism that hardens your heart. Jesus, hanging on the cross, looked at those who betrayed and mocked Him and said, "Father, forgive them." He knows your pain. He offers you His power to forgive.
