Day 5: Extending the Mercy We've Received
Reading: Jonah 4:1-11; Matthew 18:21-35
Devotional: The story's uncomfortable ending reveals our own hearts. Jonah wanted mercy for himself but judgment for Nineveh. We haven't truly understood grace until we're willing to see it given to people we think don't deserve it. The truth is, none of us deserve God's mercy—that's what makes it grace. Who are the "Ninevites" in your life? The difficult coworker, the estranged family member, the person whose politics you despise? God's mercy is bigger than our preferences. He pursued you when you were running, forgave you when you were rebellious, and restored you when you were broken. Now He asks you to extend that same scandalous grace to others. May we become people known not for our judgment but for our mercy, reflecting the heart of the God who chased us down and brought us home.
